EXCELLENCE

ROKEWOOD RECREATION RESERVE, ROKEWOOD

Client: Golden Plains Shire Council
Timing: Jan 23 – May 23
Surface Type: Acrylic

iDwala was awarded the contract to design & reconstruct two aging netball / tennis courts at Rokewood Recreation Reserve, which were showing extensive wear and required a complete overhaul. The project commenced in late January 2023, and by May 2023, the newly upgraded courts were open to the public.

The scope of the project included the construction of two high-quality courts, featuring line markings for both netball and tennis. In addition, competition-grade sports lighting was installed to enhance evening play opportunities.

Beyond the courts, the project delivered several key amenities: new fencing, undercover seating for players, coaches, and timekeepers, as well as a dedicated spectator area. A new storage facility was also added to accommodate increased sporting equipment needs for the user groups at Rokewood Recreation Reserve.

This $751,000 redevelopment was primarily funded by the Victorian Government’s Local Sports Infrastructure Fund, with $433,666 specifically allocated from the Female Friendly Facilities category. The Golden Plains Shire Council provided the remaining $317,334 with significant project support also contributed by the Rokewood Recreation Reserve user groups.

Michaela Settle MP, Member for Eureka, expressed her enthusiasm for the upgraded facilities: “The completion of these fantastic new courts, alongside the upcoming Community Hub, is transforming Rokewood Recreation Reserve into a vibrant hub for sports and community activity. I look forward to seeing our local community embrace these exceptional facilities and enjoy everything they have to offer for netball and tennis.
