Baarmutha Park Cricket Nets
Client: Indigo Shire Council
Timing: December 2025
Surface Type: Synthetic Turf Cricket Practice Facility
With participation growing at Beechworth Cricket Club, Indigo Shire Council identified the need to upgrade the ageing cricket practice infrastructure at Baarmutha Park Reserve.
The existing three-lane practice nets presented significant safety concerns and no longer aligned with Cricket Australia’s Community Cricket Facility Guidelines. The facility had reached a point where replacement was required to improve player safety, training functionality and long-term suitability for community use.
iDwala was engaged to provide the specialist design and construction expertise needed to transform the outdated infrastructure into a modern, compliant and durable cricket training environment.
The project involved the design and construction of a new four-lane synthetic turf cricket practice facility, including new pavement construction, enclosed training lanes, retractable soft net curtains, compliant protective net structures, a roofed shed-style enclosure and compliant sports lighting to support greater year-round usability and weather protection.
The completed facility has significantly improved cricket training provision at Baarmutha Park Reserve, delivering a safer, more functional and visually impressive regional sporting asset for Beechworth and the surrounding Northeast Victoria community.
Designed to support increased participation, player development and long-term community use, the retractable soft net curtain system significantly broadens the facility’s functionality throughout the year. The result is a high-quality training environment that will support Beechworth Cricket Club and its players for many years to come.
