In early 2021, iDwala was engaged by the City of Greater Dandenong to provide a Functional Design and Budget Costings for the redevelopment of six tennis courts at Burden Park Tennis Club. iDwala also played a pivotal role in assisting the Council with the funding application, which resulted in a successful grant through the Victorian Government’s Sports & Recreation Infrastructure Grants.
Following the approval of funding, iDwala was tasked with delivering a compliant Detailed Design and Specifications for the redevelopment. The design incorporated a range of modern features, including new synthetic grass tennis courts built on concrete pavement, extending the court surface to meet Australian standards. In addition to this, iDwala’s design ensured DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) compliance, including the provision of accessible pathways, water drinking stations, and integration with the existing Pavilion surroundings.
Other significant upgrades included compliant low-level LED sports lighting, new fencing, and an improved drainage system to enhance both functionality and user experience. iDwala also provided critical support during construction by assisting the City of Greater Dandenong with hold point inspections to ensure the project’s quality and compliance at key stages.
The $1.18 million project was largely funded by the Victorian State Government, with additional contributions from the City of Greater Dandenong and the Burden Park Tennis Club. iDwala is proud to have played a key role in delivering this state-of-the-art facility, which will serve as a valuable community asset for years to come.
