CARLSON RESERVE Clayton, Victoria
Client: City of Monash
Timing: July 2022
Surface Type: Synthetic Grass
iDwala was engaged to deliver the design phase for the redevelopment of cricket training nets at Carlson Reserve, providing a much-needed upgrade to ageing facilities. The outcome? Three brand-new, fully enclosed training nets built to meet Cricket Australia’s current standards — offering an improved and safer training environment for the local cricket community.
Working collaboratively with Melbourne Water to maintain the Melbourne Water Site security, iDwala was granted permission to design the new nets on their adjacent land. This strategic opportunity allowed for a reorientation of the nets to a true North–South alignment, eliminating sun glare issues that previously impacted visibility during practice when the nets faced East–West.
As part of the upgraded design, iDwala also included a purpose-built, fenced storage compound located beside the nets. This additional space provides secure, weather-protected storage for portable shelters and equipment, supporting broader community sporting use.
This project reflects iDwala’s commitment to delivering smart, community-focused design outcomes — enhancing local infrastructure and creating a more functional, inclusive space for sport and recreation in the City of Monash.
