Creating engaging and safe spaces for student activity is a priority for every school, and Fairfield Primary is no exception. iDwala was engaged to transform an ageing, uneven netball court into a vibrant, performance-ready facility that could meet the daily demands of both school and community use.

The project began with the full reconstruction of the deteriorating asphalt base, addressing long-standing drainage issues and delivering a high-quality surface with no puddling. This stable foundation supported the installation of a multi-layer acrylic coating system selected for its durability, slip resistance, UV resistance, and consistent ball response. The result is a surface that performs equally well for PE classes, lunchtime play, and inter-school competition.

Competition-standard sports lighting was added to extend use beyond school hours, supporting community access and evening play. A bright, school-themed colour palette and custom line marking gave the court a distinctive identity, while delivery was carefully planned around term breaks to minimise disruption.

The revitalised facility is already making an impact: Year 5 and 6 netball teams were among the first to train on the new surface, and teachers have praised its improved safety and professional finish. Students are showing greater confidence and enthusiasm to participate in physical activity, underlining the value of quality spaces in fostering active lifestyles.
