SPECIALIST LINE MARKING AND SURFACE TREATMENT FOR VELODROME

Client: City of Wagga Wagga
Timing: December 2022
Surface Type: Acrylic

The Wagga Wagga Velodrome within the multisport cycling complex has been resurfaced to restore rider safety, usability and compliance. Delivered by iDwala in partnership with the City of Wagga Wagga, the upgrade revitalised the aging track with a durable, performance-ready finish suited to both recreational and competitive cycling.

The existing surface had deteriorated significantly, with faded markings, minor cracks, and surface inconsistencies affecting rider safety and event-readiness. The scope included surface preparation, repairs to minor substrate imperfections, and the installation of a high-friction, UV-stable acrylic coating across the velodrome circuit. This provided a clean, uniform riding surface that supports both recreational use and competitive cycling.

iDwala’s experienced surfacing team implemented specialist line marking using high-contrast paints, laid out to Australian Cycling Federation standards. Careful coordination was required to ensure the accuracy of lap indicators including start and finish zones, and transition areas. Non-slip finishes were applied to high-traffic entry zones and edges to enhance user safety.

The works were delivered on time and with minimal disruption to surrounding facility users. The upgraded track now presents a bright, clearly defined, and professional finish that boosts community pride and supports local cycling events and junior development programs.

This project showcases iDwala’s capability in specialist sports surfacing, particularly where accuracy, endurance, and sporting compliance are essential and is proud to have supported the resurfacing of one of the region’s most significant cycling facilities.
